More Blue Ridge Parkway

This is a picture of the Natural Bridge at night when we heard the account of Creation.

This is a picture of that Natural Bridge during daylight hours. That's Beverly and some other people at the base of the bridge to give you some perspective of the size of this thing. There is actually a road across the top, we drove over it in our motorhomes when we left town.

These are more pictures we took while on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This would make a good drive in a car, to travel from one end of it to the other.  There aren't many places we could get off or pull over because of our size but in a smaller vehicle you could get many more photo opportunities.  There are no hotels or restaurants right on the parkway but you can get off a various points to find those. So, plan a trip sometime.

As we were driving along we saw this field with what looks like a bandstand, with a treble cleft formed out of rocks on the right side. We were just a bit past this when we noticed it, there wasn't any traffic so Rick stopped and I ran back to the bathroom to take the picture through the venetian blinds, so it's not a great shot but kinda funny how it came about.

Last night, Tuesday, Oct. 28th, we stayed just outside Statesville, NC at an RV park on the Van Hoy Farm.  Apparently they host all kinds of activities at this place. There was a large arena that had a banner hanging on it, Fiddler's Convention. Too bad we missed out on that.

Today we are in a KOA just east of Ashville, NC. Tomorrow we are going to the Biltmore for the day. We were there a few years ago but it was cold and I didn't feel very well, so hopefully we'll enjoy it even more this time.

Hope you are enjoying the pictures. I learned that I could take pics with Rick's camera while we were going down the road and it helps occupy my mind when we are up high and there's a drop off. It is a bit unnerving though to  zoom in as you're rounding a curve, there were a couple times I thought we were going over because my perception of our location was off. Most of my pictures we have to delete when we load them into the computer but it is keeping me occupied.

Be sure to vote next Tuesday and may God's will be done.

Love you!

  1. After a couple of failed attempts to see the fall foliage on the east coast 09/11 and a hurricane?), you are really getting to see some beautiful stuff. I'm so happy for you, but you've been gone waaayyyyyy too long. Time to get yourself home, missy! Enjoy the last few weeks on the road. I love reading about your adventures, especially when you do something that scares you. Heights, elevators, high roads with no guardrails, etc., etc.!

  2. What a natural wonder that bridge is! God's creations are amazing. I hope Jason and I can take a trip like you and Rick are someday. You should have some of your photos blown up and put on canvas for your house.
