Williamsburg, Virginia

Today we actually went to Colonial Williamsburg, we can mark that off our "Bucket List". I wish I had paid more attention in history class or could retrieve what I did learn.  Rick seems to remember a lot about the revolution but he knows a lot of stuff that I have no clue about. It was like stepping back in time, the staff members are dressed according to the period 1774-1781. The streets are dirt, rock and brick. There are shops that sell wood toys, bonnets, clothing and a variety of items that would have been available then. There are also more modern day gift shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the day. 

Today was Gary Johnson's birthday so we celebrated with dinner at an Outback Steakhouse.

This was a little family we saw walking across the lawn, I don't know if they were part of the Williamsburg staff or tourists like we were but we thought they were cute. They do sell and rent out costumes.  

This is the Bruton Parish Church, an episcopal church that is still active. Had we known soon enough, they had a healing service there at 11:00 this morning, we would have taken Gary to see what they could do for him.

General George Washington's name is on one of the pews as well as Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe. I suppose they were members of the church at some time.

I know one thing, the seats are so narrow and the backs so straight that it would have been difficult to fall asleep during the service. 

This is me, laughing in church, don't know what I was laughing at but as Logan once told me, "Mamaw, for your information you laugh a lot". I don't know exactly how he meant that but I'd rather laugh than be grumpy. Well, sometimes I'm both.

There was so much to see in Williamsburg that we are going back there again tomorrow. Our tickets will get us into Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown for 7 days, so we have a lot of history to catch up on.
