We spent the morning at Whiteface Mountain near Lake Placid. We went all the way to the top, pictures will follow. It was gorgeous up there. You could see for miles. I love these mountains, the roads are lined with the forrest turning my favorite colors. Even though we were several thousand feet up it was not so bad because of the trees.
Later we shopped in the town of Lake Placid which reminds us of Eureka Springs or old Branson. I'm sure this place is booming in the summer and with skiers in the winter. We then drove to Olympic village and saw the ski jumps where they practice. It is unbelievable how high those things are. It takes a lot of guts or major stupidity to go down those things.
After we got home Gary started a fire in a fire pit between our two motorhomes and we sat outside and drank coffee and talked a while. This is the life. Of course with all that is going on in the world and with the stock market this may be our last trip of this kind for a while.
Cassie sent us pictures of our newest grandbaby. The Dr. said everything looks just as it should. I'm thankful for that and excited about this new addition to the family. Just wonder how big brother Wyatt will do. Cassie said he says he wants a sister, even though he doesn't know the difference between and boy and a girl yet.
Here we are on the top of Whiteface Mountain. As you can see it's 4,867 ft high. You drive up so far and then either walk up to the top or take an elevator that is 420 feet inside the mountain up the equivalent of 26 stories to the top. Gary took the walk, the rest of us rode up.
I planned to send a couple more pictures but the internet is not working well so I'll try later.
Love you all!

Wow. That's way up there! The view must have been spectacular. Glad you're enjoying your trip. Seems like you've been gone forever. Maybe Cassie will post some pics of her ultrasound on her blog. How exciting!
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are beautiful. Makes me want to be there!! I am sure they are much more incredible in person. The falls pictures were good too, especially the horseshoe falls one. I hope this comment works...I have tried to leave you comments before and for some reason there is always an error. Love you!
