Lazy Sunday

We went to church this morning in Tonawanda, NY,  a little town just outside Niagara Fall. It was the Lighthouse Baptist Church. Gary found it on the internet, the web site showed them to support some BBFI missionaries so we thought we'd check them out.  The Pastor has been there for 22 years as pastor, prior to that he was a deacon in the church, said he tried to go away to Bible college but the Lord just did not allow that but the church ask him to become their pastor.  We really enjoyed his message out of Hebrews regarding Moses life.  The church runs about 200 and seems very strong doctrinally, they are quite a bit more conservative than we are.  No canned music, all hymns. The magazine and Revival Fires paper they gave us with our visitor packet had a lot of Hyles-Anderson College input.  We did enjoy our visit with them.  They were very friendly. It's pretty cool to be so far from home and still feel at home in God's house. His Spirit unites us. We thought of our services back home and pray that all was well.

It has surprised us that of the two churches we've visited since leaving home they were both very conservative and pretty old school.  I thought things would be more progressive up here. Maybe we just haven't been to the right church yet.  Probably need to stop looking for that "independant" label if we want to experience something different.

When we got out of church it was raining so we went to lunch and back to our respective home on wheels and are being lazy this afternoon.  I need to do a bit of cleaning before we pull up stakes and head to Albany, NY tomorrow.

Last night I got frustrated at this thing and did not get a couple pictures on that I thought I downloaded, I'll try again. "If at first you don't succeed" bla, bla, bla.

This is a picture of the American Falls and the Niagara River from the Canadian side, from the observation deck at the top of the Skylon Tower.

This is the Horseshoe Fall from the Skylon Tower in Canada.

This is the Skylon Tower.  If you've looked at Pam's blog and the picture of me praying in an elevator, now you know why.  We had to go to the top of this thing. It was an incredible view, what I was actually able to see of it while clutching the side of the building.

Well, I've done a little vacuuming while waiting on these pics to download. Guess I better go finish the rest of my chores, so I'll catch you later.

love to all

I don't think I saw these amazing things in New York but I do believe they are the most beautiful sites I've ever seen.

  1. Who knew you could find anything conservative on the east coast? What I'm more shocked about is that you're vacuuming. Just kidding! I'm sure your RV was dirty after we left. Notice the pretty weather came with us and left with us. Hmmm. . . I saw two of your favorite sights today. I told Logan and Macey that we saw you in New York. They thought that was neat. Logan won his football game (I'm sure you already know that). They both looked adorable. Have a great night and safe travels tomorrow. I agree with you - nothing compares to your grandbabies. THey are beautiful.

  2. I really enjoyed your pictures. That surprises me too about the churches being so conservative. Wonder why that is. Keep the pics coming!
