We got here Monday and it has rained every day, it hasn't stopped us from sight seeing but we're ready for some sun shine. Tuesday we tackled the most challenging event of this week. We went to the top of Washington Mountain. You can take a train, take a guided tour in a van driven by a professional idiot or drive your own car. Guess which we chose? yep, we drove, Rick did anyway. I made Gary get up front and Beverly was kind enough to allow me to ride behind the driver, Rick. That puts you on the center line always, not looking over the side. It was a two lane road, so they said, fortunately we only met a couple cars going up the mountain. We had to drive in low gear both ways. I don't know if it was good or bad but it was very cloudy, the higher we went the cloudier it became which meant there was virtually no visibility. Rick could see the road just a few yards ahead of us at times. He admitted to me later that it actually made him a bit nervous, especially when our transmission began to act up about half way up the mountain. I don't know about any one else but I was praying, God does still answer prayer, because it settled down and we had no more problems with it the rest of the time. They say the weather at the top of that mountain, although it is only 6,288 ft high, is the worst in the world. They have measured winds up to 231 mph. The temp drops at least 40 degrees from the bottom to the top. It has been down to 40 below at times. But we made it, I survived. Mark Lowry says, "If I'd known I would survive I would have enjoyed it more" that has become my life saying. It seems every where we go we have to attempt the highest point in the area. It really was too bad that we couldn't see because the colors are beautiful. We were told that with this rain the leaves will be gone soon if the winds pick up. Even as I type this I look outside and see leaves falling like crazy. We timed this trip well and we're thankful for that.
We also timed well because had we known what was going to happen in the economy before we left we probably would have talked ourselves out of coming and spending the money on this trip, but now that we're here we have to say, oh well, we might as well spend it and enjoy it here than lose it all in the market. We may however be looking for jobs when we get home. We've thought about paying our way around the country by working at Walmart as greeters for a while in each location and moving on to the next, but we decided we'd eat up our income with parking fees.
We took 5 1/2 hour scenic train ride yesterday that was great. I know you've seen pictures of trains traveling through mountains crossing a valley on a bridge or trestle, well we did it, five or six times. The view was incredible, just wish the sun were shining. I'd love to send pics and will try later but I don't think this internet connection will support it. I can't even load some pics that Cassie sent me of Wyatt. Maybe next week I can when we move to Maine.
Today is Friday and we're using this day to rest and catch up on laundry and cleaning. It's raining of course but the forecast for tomorrow is just cloudy, not rain, so we will be out and about then. We still haven't seen a moose but see warning signs of moose crossing all the time, our eyes are tired from searching so hard to find one. We may take a guided tour that has a 97 percent success rate of finding moose. Rick says they probably take us out to some ones private property where they have moose in a corral and turn them loose at just the right time for suckers like us to think we're really doing something.
I've heard from a couple of new followers to my blog and am thrilled to share it with any one you want to tell about it. So, Hi! to Cara C. I'm glad to hear from you, maybe you can bring Bobbie up to date in the cyber world. I'm learning as I go, you just have to take it a "byte" at a time.
I hope everyone is doing well. Remember God is Still in control but we have a responsibility to follow Him, place our trust in Him and vote according to Godly principles.
Love you all! Miss you too!

I was wondering if you had fallen off a mountain, I hadn't heard from you in so long. Man, the economy thing is making everyone kind of jumpy. It'll settle down. And if it doesn't, well we've all had jobs before and can work again. I'm sorry to hear about the weather. Maybe the rain will clear and you can have several days to enjoy the leaves before they all drop. Hope you're able to post some pics soon. Talk to you later.
