Settling in at home

The day started with the usual shower, makeup and hair, getting ready to face the world. As you may know, we completed the remodel of our bathroom about a month before we left on our trip, for those of you who've spent time in a motor home you know the shower is barely big enough to stand in, if you have to bend over for any reason you nearly get wedged into the thing. The new shower at our house nearly caused a panic attack, there is so much room in there it took 4 times the amount of time to squeegy down the glass walls.  I'm thankful for my home, it seems huge to me now. All that said, I also can't wait until our next trip. We had a great time, saw some beautiful country, drove about 4,600 miles in the RV alone, don't have any idea how many miles we put on our truck and the Johnson's truck with our little excursions.

We did come home to find we have some unwanted house guests, suppose the exterminator will be called tomorrow. It seems a family of mice moved in while we were away.  The deer had a feast on the plants in our front flower bed and as we were eating dinner last night a raccoon peeked in the window at us. I didn't mind having no leaves on the manhattans in the front flower bed and the sweet potato vines would have died out anyway but I DON'T LIKE MICE. So they'll just have to go, one way or the other. Macey will say they are God's creatures but I DON'T LIKE MICE.

Rick brought more stuff from the RV to be put away at home but I told him not to bring my clothes back until I can go through my dresser and closet to discard things I don't, won't or can't wear anymore. This is all being done in honor of my sweet daughter-in-law, DeNae, who had to endure me help her clear things out of her closet as she was moving in to the rent house. She told me that the next time she came here she was going through my closet, so I thought I'd get a jump start on that project. (Don't anyone tell her, when she does go through my closet she'll think I actually practice what I preach).

We also went through the truck load of mail that our neighbor and Cindy have collected for us the last few weeks.  It's amazing how much paper is passed around the world.

This is a picture of Madalyn waiting her turn on the uneven bars at her gymnastics meet Saturday morning, we got to see gymnastics and ice skating while were there.  You will note that she does not have a Phillips or Kirkpatrick build, thank God her mother has good genes.

Love you all

  1. Good grief! Madalyn is all legs! She's always been thin, but she is getting so tall. Very cute photo.
Mice gross me out too! Hate them. They can be God's creatures outside. Inside they are Satan's curse - or the curse of an extended RV trip, whatever.

  3. That picture of Madalyn is too much...no one should be allowed to be that cute.

Oh, and the mice? I feel for you. We have just spent the last three weeks getting rid of mice at our house; disgusting. The exterminators have been visiting us a lot. Ours are finally gone. Hope you get rid of yours SOON!
