We had a very quiet Christmas Day, just Rick and I at home, me cooking, preparing for the next day and Rick playing with my Christmas present, an iphone. It was my present from him but as usual he has to figure out how everything works for me. Russell, Cassie and Wyatt came to spend that night with us. We gave Wyatt his Christmas present early Friday morning before everyone came over, so he'd have time to play with it.
Macey ask for boxes for Christmas so I thought, since the weather was supposed to be warm, it would be fun for them to play in boxes outside, so Wednesday I spent the afternoon searching for large boxes, even did a bit of dumpster diving to find some. Dumpsters aren't filled with good stuff like they used to be.
Macey is also a tree hugger.
The kids making gingerbread houses, they had a good time and were quite creative. Of course some had to have adult supervision.
This pic is out of order and I can't seem to fix it right now but this is Wyatt getting an assist opening his gifts.
Now we're back to gingerbread houses.
Somehow I lost some pictures, think maybe too many people are posting blogs right now and the thing is over worked. I'm quite sure it is not the operator on this end.
We had a great day. The kids had so much fun playing in the boxes and building their little homes, then making gingerbread houses. I didn't get a picture of the finished products or I'd make you look at their superb craftsmanship.
I was able to add the pics I'd lost earlier. Russell is teaching the kids how to play football. They were so cute and he was a trooper to play outside with them then later that evening he went upstairs with all of them to wrestle. I don't know who had the most fun, the kids or him. Made me proud of all of them, listening to them squeeling and giggling.

I had trouble adding photos yesterday. Look at that long legged Madalyn. She's getting way too big. You were very brave to have the gingerbread house thing going. Not sure I could do that. Well, it does look fun!
ReplyDeleteI already know you are thoughtful and considerate of others, so I'm not sure you can be more so. Happy New Year, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteDon't you love it when kids love the simple things in life (BOXES!)? Cindy told me about them playing with them...how funny! We have had boxes in our house for weeks at a time! My kids still bring them home from daddy's work. Glad you have everyone together for the holidays! Happy 2009!
ReplyDeleteCasey Rose said I should tag everyone and have them list some of their favorite material things, so here you go. Consider yourself tagged! Check out my blog for my faves.
